Diyaluma Falls – The Second Highest Waterfall in Sri Lanka

The Second Highest Waterfall in Sri Lanka is the Diyaluma Falls. Ella is about a one-hour drive from the Diyaluma Falls base. This 220-meter-high waterfall, Sri Lanka’s second tallest, features several levels and natural lakes at its apex. On foot, the sight of water crashing down with enormous force on the rocks is spectacular, but exploring the top is novel, and you must be physically strong to do it. It takes 3 to 6 hours to go to Diyaluma from Ella.

The Diyaluma Falls is a must-see for anybody who visits the area.

One of the nicest things to do in Ella is to go see the waterfall. By tuk-tuk, vehicle, or motorcycle, you can get to the foot of the Diyaluma falls in less than an hour. The last 15 minutes of the journey are uphill, and the road isn’t in the finest condition after that. Pass the bridge and continue on the route to the waterfall.

Following the road to Koslanda town once you’ve investigated the footpath. After 15 minutes, make a sharp right turn and continue on the road. Once you reach a fork in the road, turn right and follow the locals to where you should park your vehicle.

Ask a native to direct you to the waterfall from the little parking lot. A two-hour trek and a forty-minute hike are both available. The 40-minute stroll through lush grass is lovely, with no discernible trail and breathtaking vistas.

This region is home to elephants. Please don’t stroll in the dark or alone.

Diyaluma Falls – Swimming

When you reach the first section of the waterfall, you’ll come across a succession of natural pools where you may swim or even jump from one pool to another.

Further down, you’ll come face to face with a 220 meter+ plunge, complete with natural lakes even on the cliff’s edge! Dip in the one near the edge if you’re very careful. It’s preferable to just stare over the brink of one of Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfalls and see the bridge from whence you began.

Take plenty of water and food with you since you might easily spend an entire day on top of this magnificent waterfall.

The location has plenty of shade and is frequented by nice young folks. If you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka, don’t forget to include a stop at the Diyaluma Falls.
