Ella is a town in Sri Lanka
Ella includes some of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful settings, including lush rainforest hills, rolling tea plantations, and stunning waterfalls. Because the country is one of the greatest tea growers, visitors may expect to spend their days among the greenest scenery, taking in views from mountaintop mansions and exploring intriguing hiking pathways. Even the train ride to Ella, which takes you through bamboo woodlands and tropical mist on the legendary blue train, is one of life’s most remarkable experiences. This all-encompassing travel guide will show you all there is to do in Ella.

What You Should Do
There are numerous activities to partake in in Ella, Sri Lanka. Ella has a wide range of thrilling activities, such as climbing green mountain peaks and jumping into chilly waterfalls. After a day in the woods, the town has a vibrant atmosphere with a variety of wonderful cafés and restaurants to choose from. Below is a list of the greatest things to do in Ella, Sri Lanka.

1. Reach the summit of Little Adam’s Peak
Despite being smaller than its bigger sibling Adam’s Peak, Little Adam’s Peak is no less beautiful. The stunning crest is formed by three green peaks rising over the valley below. Hike through little towns, tea plantations, and huge grasslands while taking in the gorgeous environment. Reaching the summit is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take in the amazing, panoramic views and experience what it’s like to be on top of the world.
The trek from Ella Town to the foot of the mountain takes around 45 minutes. From the bottom to the summit, it takes around 15 minutes (or 30 minutes to reach the furthest of the three peaks).

2. Take a stroll around Ella’s Nine Arch Bridge’s railings
Ella’s Nine Arch Bridge is a landmark of the city and is renowned for its beauty around the world. The 91-meter-long and 25-meter-high bridge is a sight to behold! It’s located just outside Ella Town, on the same path as Little Adam’s Peak, in the lush green hills among low-lying clouds.
Take a stroll through the beautiful bamboo forest before arriving at the postcard-worthy setting, admiring the stone arches and waving to people on the antique blue train. This is one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka.

3.Diyaluma Falls is number three on the list

The second-highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, Diyaluma Falls, is a must-see in Ella. While going to the top of the waterfall, it’s the excellent opportunity to spend some time in nature.
From the foot, enjoy the thundering force of the water pouring upon the rocks. You’ll feel on top of the world as you explore the three natural infinity pools that reach out onto the cliff edge. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to swim in these waters and look down 220 meters below.
Diyaluma is only around an hour away from Ella. Once you’ve arrived at the base, you can drive 30 minutes to the top and then hike 45 minutes to the pools. Without utilizing a tuk-tuk, the journey from bottom to top takes about 2 hours.

4. Cooking classes are available at Ella Spice Garden

Sri Lankan cuisine is among the best in the world (a sensory overload!). Because the cuisine is so good, you’ll want to take the recipes home and learn how to create these meals yourself. Ella Spice Garden’s culinary classes will teach you about the local ingredients. It’s also a terrific way to meet new people on the course while learning from a local expert.

5. There are infinite views of tea farms from Lipton’s Seat
Haputale’s Lipton’s Seat is an excellent day trip from Ella. Take the train to Haputale and then a tuk-tuk to the Lipton tea estate for a beautiful view. Thomas Lipton, a well-known tea producer, like to sit here and gaze out over his beautiful tea fields. He also planted the first seeds of Sri Lanka’s most precious product there. It’s easy to see why he chose this site as you look down on the endless green tea fields with neat rows of plants and cheerful, hard-working people collecting leaves.

6. Ravana Falls has a natural shower that is rejuvenating
Ravana Falls isn’t quite as impressive as Diyaluma Falls, but it’s certainly a sight to behold. The falls are three-tiered, with water cascading over a series of rock pools, making for a perfect swimming spot. It’s pure bliss to be able to cool off in the sweltering heat of the tropical day!
Climbing over the first layer is not advised (signs warn of dangers), and there are only a few short muddy pathways that lead farther up the slope. Also, bring proper footwear to make it easier to get in and out of the pools.

7.Ravana the Flying
The Ravana Zip Line takes you through the Ravana rainforest on a zip line. Ella’s Flying Ravana zip line is one of the coolest things to do for adrenaline enthusiasts and explorers! The astonishing zip line is approximately half a kilometer long, stands 82 meters tall, and has a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour! Flying is as near as you’ll get to whizzing through the treetops while looking down on the valley below. It’s also only a 10-minute drive from Ella, so it’s a great afternoon activity.

8. Hike to the top of Ella Rock
Ella’s majestic Ella Rock can be sensed from all throughout the town. The beautiful green mountain is one of Ella’s most popular walks. The path is overgrown and natural, giving you a tremendous sense of adventure.
The ascent takes about 2 hours from Ella town to the mountain, passing through wide grass fields and dense woodland while following train lines. Reaching the summit while dangling your legs off the edge and peering down at the valley below is an unforgettable experience. Start your hike as early as possible in the morning to avoid the scorching sun. Pack extra clothing because it will be cold early in the morning and warm as you descend.

9.Ella Town is number nine
Ella Town is a fascinating town to explore. Ella is without a doubt one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful settings. Apart from its stunning natural beauty, which draws visitors from all over the world, the town has a dynamic atmosphere with superb cafés and restaurants. If you’re looking for a lively evening, go to one of the bars along the main street. Cafe Chill, for example, serves tasty beverages, smoothies, and a variety of cuisines while playing music into the early morning hours.
Ella offers a little market on Wednesday mornings if you happen to be in town. Along Passara Road, small sellers sell clothing, fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruits.

10. Take the train from Kandy to Ella
Ella is an exception to the rule, as travel is one of the most enjoyable activities! Experience the classic ride from Kandy to Ella on the old-fashioned multicolored train with the doors open and the wind in your hair. Travel through the forest, rolling tea hills, and stunning viaducts before arriving in Ella.
At each stop, local merchants will board to sell a variety of exquisite Sri Lankan cuisine. Anything goes, from spicy Rotis to sambal, as long as it’s wrapped in banana leaves or newspaper. The snacks are low-cost, high-quality, and a great way to support the local economy.
